New shipping container cafe

Restaurant Design Associates (RDA) was recently appointed by Levy Lesiure UK to create a new café kiosk within the Wild Place Project, Bristol.

RDA’s team of design experts worked in partnership with the official catering partner at many of the UK’s renowned cultural, historical and visitor attractions to build a bespoke shipping container kiosk, situated in the newly built giraffe house to enhance the visitor experience.

Wild Place Project was opened by the Bristol Zoological Society with an emphasis on protecting threatened habitats in the UK and around the globe. It is a fun, family attraction that provides outdoor adventure, play and learning.

Neil Addyman, Director at RDA, said: “Our team created an exterior which is in keeping with the African themed enclosure, transforming a shipping container by adding an authentic rusty corrugated metal roof and hand-written signage. An ambient glass counter to display pastries and “grab and go” hot and cold food was also installed.

“The new kiosk is a welcome addition for children and their families to relax and take a break while feeling immersed in all that the giraffes exhibit has to offer.”

James Jordan, Levy Leisure UK’s General Manager for Wild Place Project, said: “We are delighted with the new kiosk. The transformation of the shipping container is second to none and it blends into the surroundings perfectly.”
