Bishop Auckland CPU
RDA worked in partnership with The Auckland Project on several major catering projects between the years of 2018 and 2020. The new CPU was to be used to service all of the organisation’s catering facilities, allowing it to produce a variety of food and menu options in a centralised location ready to be transported for visitors and staff to enjoy across its sites.
It would also be used for the organisation’s other external contracts - including the provision of 6,400 free meals to the children of surrounding schools in the area, over the summer holidays. In addition, it would provide a training facility for its F&B apprentices and storage to support its retail outlets and for their Facilities Management and Cutorial teams, offering a central hub for offsite services.
The food production facility is approx. 390m2, with an additional 350m2 of welfare, meeting and storage space to the first floor. In addition, RDA’s team have also created a Facilities Management Store and Workshop, and a Cutorial store.
Installation involved considerable re-modelling to the existing site including bringing in a new HV power supply with a dedicated sub-station, upgrading and diverting the existing gas main and providing a mains drain connection to replace the septic tank.
