Design, supply and installation of three key food and beverage outlets at Manchester Metropolitan University
RDA were commissioned by the client at MMU to completely redesign, supply and install three key food and beverage outlets at the University’s Business School and School of Art.
The Main Servery at the Business school was to be opened up into more of a marketplace style offering with a choice of diverse and international cuisines.
The Hub Café in the Business School was to be redesigned to free up space. The colour palette was also to be updated, with the lighting warmed up to create a cosier atmosphere.
In the School of Art, the brief was to provide a space that could double up as a backdrop for student art with a muted colour palette in keeping with the look and feel of the rest of the building.
We experienced our most challenging procurement period in our entire history during this project, but we managed to achieve sign-off on schedule and to client requirements.
This was thanks to excellent communication with our suppliers and subcontractors. The vast majority went above and beyond, as did our operations team on site.
Students of the Business School can now enjoy a street food offering with diverse and international options reminiscent of London’s Borough Market.
The Hub Café is now a warm and inviting space with a soft and muted colour palette.
In the School of Art, there is a new café with a monochromatic and understated aesthetic to double up as a backdrop for student artwork and exhibitions.
