Here at RDA we strongly believe in reducing the impact on the environment and using recycled and sustainable materials wherever possible in our catering projects.

We listen to and work closely with our clients to achieve the most ethical solutions for each project, always being aware of budget. We increasingly take environmental factors into consideration with our designs. This is particularly so in certain sectors, specifically in new builds.

Our expert design team can suggest designs, equipment and materials which are more “ethical” in their characteristics, thereby enhancing the quality of the whole project.

In the first of a series of blogs about ethical design and products, we look at wall treatments and the most environmentally friendly options.

Paints with low or zero VOCs (volatile organic compounds)

Normal paints contain synthetic chemicals, including VOCs, which can be damaging to your health and the environment. However, using advanced manufacturing processes and formulations, Voc free paints have been developed using carefully selected ingredients that contain none of these harmful compounds.

Green Living wall – living plant installations

Green walls have numerous environmental benefits which include:

Added site value

Improved heat insulation

Reduced sound transmission

Enhanced air quality

Reduced airborne pollutants

 Natural Wall Coverings

These materials are made from highly renewable resources such as bamboo, palm, leaf and banana tree bark. They are stripped and woven into flexible sheets using only the parts of plants/trees that can be continuously harvested without any damage to the environment.

3D Wall Panels and Coverings

3D wall panels created from fibrous residue of sugarcane also named “bagasse.” This special wall panel material such as fibres of crushed sugarcane stalks, remaining following raw sugar is extracted from the juice of the sugarcane with shredding. It is currently the raw material which forms the pedestal of this simply installed eco-friendly interior manufactured goods. The raw material used for WallArt sustainable 3D-wallpanel designs is 100% recycled, compostable and consequently 100% biodegradable.
