Coffee Culture is Here to Stay 13th March 2018
With more than 22,000 coffee shops across the UK, three new cafes opening every day, and an estimated 2.3 billion cups of coffee drank per year, Coffee Culture is most definitely here to stay!
Clean living millennials drink less alcohol than the previous generation and are ditching pub crawls in favour of juice and coffee crawls, particularly since more and more coffee bars are now following the rest of Europe and offering a late-night service.
The way we drink coffee has also evolved – there has been a shift from pubs towards coffee shops as social meeting points during the day, and a general change in coffee consumption habits which have encouraged people to purchase cups of coffee on the high street more so than making their own at home or at work.
This rise in Coffee Culture has seen RDA design and install a variety of coffee shops for a number of sectors including a second store for Hej Coffee in Somerset House London, to a contemporary country kitchen for Whitegates Garden Nursery in North Yorkshire to name but a few.
Contemporary café for family run garden nursery
RDA was appointed by Whitegates Nursery in North Yorkshire to transform its existing tea room into a contemporary country kitchen style café.
Our team of design experts worked with the owners to bring their vision to life creating a warm and welcoming country kitchen restaurant environment with a contemporary twist. To create this look, our team used a combination of lounge and dining furniture, warm ambient lighting and a mis-match of colours and materials.
A unique new coffee shop inside Somerset House
RDA was appointed by Levy UK to bring a second store to life for Hej Coffee in the heart of London’s art and cultural hub, Somerset House.
Our team had to be sympathetic to the buildings listed status and chose colours such as dusty grey and duck egg from the Victorian colour palette. This was complimented with Hej’s strong brand identity of Tiffany Teal and bold black logo as well as “coffee quote” signage on the walls. The new counters were given a sleek and contemporary finish with statement tiles to the front and drop in counter top chillers to allow for deli style displays and tasty treats.
A new high-end coffee bar within a major bank in Canary Wharf.
Our team of designers carefully interpreted the clients vision transforming an out-of-use catering outlet into a new coffee bar which serves the Bank’s thousands of employees. Installation involved considerable re-modelling including new luxurious leather seating pods, copper pendant lights for that on-trend industrial feel from the high street, as well as a neon effect, bespoke botanical wall sign portraying the name of the coffee shop.
