Here at RDA, we pride ourselves on being the number one in creative and innovative catering design. Over the past 10 years, we’ve worked on a number of successful catering projects in the education sector, and now look forward to exhibiting at the upcoming TUCO Conference (24-26 July).
The event celebrates the leading professional bodies for ‘in house’ caterers operating in the higher and further education sector, which makes it the ideal place to seek expert advice from our friendly team.
After securing educational catering contracts with Tyneside colleges, we were appointed by Durham University as catering design consultants on a large-scale refurbishment project within an existing grade II listed building at Hatfield College. Using a brand new, bespoke counter design, and LED lighting display, we transformed once outdated décor into a chic, modern dining hall, with a kitchen equipped with state-of-the-art appliances.
Since then we have worked closely with an extensive range of universities including Northumbria University, Leeds Beckett University and Coventry University to resolve their catering issues. Our educational catering method combines modern contemporary designs with current trends, bringing you the most suitable and stylish options for your school or university.
One of our first projects was at ‘Castles Restaurant’ located within Northumbria University, Newcastle. Northumbria has recently strived to become a trendsetter in university style, incorporating simplistic interiors throughout.
Tasked with the job of completing a fresh new feel within one of Northumbria’s main dining halls, the project aimed to revitalise not only the look of the canteen, but the university itself. With over 8,000 students passing through Castles Restaurant each day, it was important to re-style the university’s scheme in order to appeal to new and existing students. By bringing in glossy, white counter pieces, and a burst of colour, Northumbria University’s image was successfully rejuvenated.
Another of our leading success stories is University College School, London. After the initial challenges of dealing with re-vamping a listed building, our team efficiently delivered and installed all catering equipment, including Proline servery counters, a Hobart dishwasher, Foster coldrooms and refrigeration, and Halton ventilation canopy and services distribution unit.
Implementing a stylish and contemporary feel to the new kitchen and dining hall, the appearance of the university was dramatically improved. Nigel Stock, Director of Operations at University College School, said: “The new catering facility has transformed the working conditions for our catering team and RDA played a key role in making this happen.”
Ultimately, as a result of our ability to combine current trends with a businesses consumer needs, our skills across the education sector continue to attract stellar results, ensuring our work is always on time and within budget.
